Not even a pandemic can hold back the determined volunteers of Spruce Grove’s Pay Forward Kindness (PFK) Society. The organization has acquired the knowledge of experience in supporting homeless members of the community and put that knowledge into practice when the impacts of COVID-19 became apparent among the city’s less fortunate.
With the safety of the homeless and the broader community in mind, PFK mobilized Spruce Grove residents behind the “Hotels for Hope” initiative. The program was intended to provide those in need a one or two night respite in a hotel room to shower, rest and recharge.
The Hotels for Hope project is just one of the ways PFK is working to help the homeless in Spruce Grove. Along with a mobile “wellness wagon” that distributes basic needs, meals and shower passes, PFK hosts late night cafes on cold winter nights to ensure a warm, safe place out of the elements. A warm hand up when it is needed most.
