- name
- type of organization
- current status and registration date
- location of registered office and postal code

This is the data table that generates the dashboard. Information in this table can be exported, see the 'Help' tab in the dashboard for instructions. The table includes several datasets:
- Alberta Non-Profit Listing on the Open Government Portal, updated monthly.
- It provides a point-in-time view of all incorporated or registered non-profits in Alberta.
- There may be processing delays to the next month if new organizations or address updates are received at the end of the month.
- Electoral Constituency developed by Elections Alberta.
- Population Centre vs Rural Classification developed by Statistics Canada (‘Population center’ replaced the term ‘urban area’ in 2010).

Data and details
Data notes
- The data presented is based on the information submitted by the organization and meets the requirements of the Act it was formed or registered under.
- All changes or corrections to the information must be requested by the organization.
- The location data represents:
- the city or town of the registered office of the organization and may not reflect the organization’s service area
- the city or town of the head office address for extra-provincial non-profit organizations. This could include addresses outside the province even though the organization is authorized to operate in Alberta.
- the city or town based on a street address or legal land description
- The dashboard uses postal code data to create the charts and maps. Organizations that submitted a legal land description for their registered office will show as ‘unknown’ on the dashboard.
- For older records, some data entry errors in the postal code of the organizations’ registered or head offices are possible. This location data should be used with caution.
- The 'Number of non-profit organizations based on statuses selected above' header is set to show only organizations who have ‘active’ status the previous month. This can be changed under the status dropdown menu.
- Additional searchable functions include finding non-profit organizations by urban and rural centers and by electoral constituency.
Exclusions
Information about registered charities collected and maintained by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is excluded from the dashboards. See the CRA search for more information.

Non-profit and voluntary sector
The non-profit and voluntary sector connects with almost all aspects of community life in Alberta. The sector consists of approximately 27,000 non-profit organizations. Community-based non-profits employ almost 84,000 Albertans and contribute nearly $5.7 billion to the provincial gross domestic product.
In Alberta, non-profit incorporation can take place under the Agricultural Societies Act, Companies Act, Religious Societies Lands Act, Societies Act, and a small number of private acts. Extra-provincial registration of non-profit organizations from outside Alberta takes place under the Business Corporations Act.
