From January 26 to February 3, the Government of Alberta is leading a trade mission to Japan during the nano tech Japan 2024 conference.

Alberta’s mission to Japan
In Japan, Alberta’s government is looking forward to discussing shared priorities around topics such as hydrogen, ammonia, manufacturing, agriculture, emissions reduction and technology. Alberta’s government will be meeting with officials and sector representatives, and aims to connect with companies interested in investing in the province.

Biography
Matt Jones was sworn in as the Minister of Jobs, Economy and Trade on June 9, 2023. He previously served as the Minister of Affordability and Utilities and the Minister of Children's Services.
Prior to his service as an elected official, Mr. Jones worked as an investment banker helping Alberta based businesses with capital raises, acquisitions and divestitures.
Mr. Jones is a CFA Charter holder and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.
Matt Jones was first elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-South East on April 16, 2019 and was re-elected on May 29, 2023.
