Overview
The Alberta fisheries management public engagement, held in January 2020, explored fisheries and fisheries management. The focus was on enhancing recreational fishing opportunities across the province.
Feedback would be used to inform changes to sportfishing regulations and an updated fisheries management plan.

Albertans participated in 11 open house events in January 2020.
Outcomes
Albertans feedback was incorporated into the 2020 Alberta Sportfishing Regulations, which came into effect on April 1, 2020. Changes included:
- additional harvest opportunities
- commitment to stocking
- species diversification
- revitalization of the fish culture program
Feedback will also be considered as part of an updated fisheries management plan.
