Are you interested in exporting to the Upper Midwest? Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation is looking to develop a 2-day educational mission and business-to-business (B2B) program for agri-food companies in Minneapolis on January 24-25, 2023.
“The program will give companies the opportunity to gather market intelligence, build relationships with key in-market support contacts and U.S. retailers and more,” says Marissa Brewer, trade development officer with the Alberta government.
The proposed program includes:
- market overview of the Upper Midwest area with a focus on Minneapolis
- information and insight on the process for crossing the U.S. border, including clearing U.S. Customs
- a presentation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on labelling and regulations pertaining to agri-food products
- perspectives from U.S. food and beverage distributors and U.S. retailers on their expectations and operations in the region
- store visits to specialty, natural and gourmet retailers in Minneapolis and the surrounding metropolitan area to gain market intelligence
- potential B2B meetings
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in this mission, Alberta companies:
- may not have export experience, but are prepared, organized and highly committed to expanding internationally, or
- have some export experience and are determined to leverage those successes into new export markets
Expenses
Companies may be eligible for funding to help offset travel costs through the Alberta Export Expansion Program.
Please note the program may change based on availability of presenters and participating companies. In addition, the decision to proceed with this initiative is dependent on the level of interest received from companies.
