Description: Alberta Emergency Alert: Overland Flow Flood Alert Updated

Update 2 – The flooding in Yellowhead County can impact local residents by possibly contaminating water wells and sewer systems, and residents should contact the county to report these issues. The areas of Niton Junction, Carrot Creek, and low-lying areas along the Lobstick River to the east, and the Chip Lake area as water flows towards the Pembina River currently have flooding in their area.

Following the impact of floodwater on local residences, water well contamination and sewage issues are possible. Residents are encouraged to contact the Emergency Operations Centre hotline at 1-833-334-4630 to report any such issues and to have their water supplies tested for contamination. Dangerous driving conditions are reported on: - Township Rd. 532 west of Range Rd. 125 - Old Carrot Creek Highway between Range Rd. 140 and Range Rd. 141 - Range Rd. 135 North of Township Rd. 540 - no vehicle exit for residents - Niton North Road south of Township Rd. 542 - Niton North Road south of the railway crossing - Township Rd. 542 west of Niton North Road - no vehicle exit for residents - Range Rd. 135 south of Township Rd. 534 More available at https://www.facebook.com/yellowheadcounty/ Facebook page.

  • Avoid travel on the impacted roads
  • A reception centre has been set up, and will remain open until 9 PM, at the Multiplex in the Hamlet of Peers for people who cannot return to their homes or are displaced
