Description: Alberta Emergency Alert - Wildfire Alert West of Edson near Marlboro Updated
There is a wildfire approximately 22 km west of Edson located south of Marlboro and Hwy 16. Highway 16 has been reopened as of 12:00 AM May 20,2019. At 9:00 AM the evacuation order was rescinded. Residents are allowed back into the area but will remain on notice that they may need to evacuate again in a short period of time if the fire situation changes.
The checkpoints will remain in place as only residents are allowed in to these areas. If livestock and pets have been evacuated they should not be returned to the evacuation zones. Residents will have an opportunity to return to their residences to gather supplies, medications, and other important belongings. A reception centre has been set up at the Best Western Hotel in Edson (300 52 St, Edson, AB). Residents who are being evacuated can check in at the reception centre.
