“Mental Health Week is a valuable reminder of how important mental health is to our long-term health and daily living.

“Mental health starts with each of us, because nobody knows better how we’re feeling or what’s causing stress in our lives. This week is an excellent time to start making wellness a priority every day – creating daily habits that support a healthy, balanced life, like going for a walk, connecting with friends or making time for rest. Prevention plays a key role in mental well-being, and small, consistent actions like these can help manage stress early and support long-term mental health.

“When additional support is needed – for yourself or a loved one – help is available. 211 Alberta can connect people with local services, including programs like Counselling Alberta. Young people can also access mental health supports through Kids Help Phone, Kickstand locations across the province or virtually through Kickstand Connect.

“This week is a great opportunity to look at how you can take control of things affecting your mental well-being. If you or a loved one need help, reach out. Whether it’s through a family member, a friend, or one of the many resources available across Alberta, help is available – and recovery is possible.”
