Recipients of the 2015 Community Justice Awards were honoured in Edmonton at a ceremony co-hosted with the Edmonton Police Service.
“The work done by these individuals and organizations to help keep our neighbourhoods safe is invaluable and deserves our appreciation and recognition. I thank every recipient of this year’s Community Justice Awards for their dedication and outstanding achievements, and for inspiring others to make positive contributions of their own.”
The annual awards are presented under the categories of leadership, innovation, service enhancement, community mobilization, and partnerships and collaboration. Nominations are submitted by members of the public and the awards presentation ceremony is alternated annually between Edmonton and Calgary.

Cpl. Ryan Howrish, Cold Lake RCMP, for his dedication and innovative approaches to preventing and raising awareness of domestic violence.

Kari Thomason, in recognition of her continuing support of victims of the drug and sex trades.

Terry Grant Jordan, in recognition of his community engagement and proactive approach to neighbourhood crime prevention.
Partnerships and Collaboration

Maggie MacKillop, in recognition of the strong and productive relationships she has built with community agencies in Calgary.
Edmonton
Alliance Jeunesse-Famille de l’Alberta Society (AJFAS), in recognition of the many programs and opportunities the organization has developed and implemented in support of the Franco-Albertan justice community.
Service Enhancement
Medicine Hat
The Safe Families Intervention Team, a partnership between the Medicine Hat Police Service and the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society, for its commitment to helping ensure violence-free home environments.
