This release was issued under a previous government.

The new Peace Region Family Care Clinic (FCC) will include a team of health-care professionals providing services to meet local health needs, including chronic disease management, addiction and mental health assistance, and maternal health.

“The new clinic in Peace River will give residents improved access to services tailored to meet their needs in their community. A local governance model will ensure the community has input into what services are provided, something rural residents said was very important to them during the Rural Health Services Review and something we have promised to put in place.”

Stephen Mandel, Minister of Health

Expected to open in December 2016, the clinic will be built by Northern Sunrise County, on land donated by the county near the existing Peace River Community Health Centre. Funding of up to $5 million is allocated for the Peace River FCC in Budget 2015.

“This is great news for our community. Enhanced primary health- care services will help reduce pressures on our local hospital and improve health outcomes for residents of the Peace River region.”

Frank Oberle, MLA for Peace River
