Albertans are encouraged to share their thoughts on these and other potential changes to provincial Traffic Safety Act Regulations. The Prentice government is committed to keeping our roads safe and reducing the number of fatalities and serious collisions on Alberta roads.
"We have good, fundamental legislation in place as part of our comprehensive approach to safer roads. To ensure that legislation remains current and to know we’re making the right improvements, we want input from our traffic safety partners and Albertans."
Questions will also be asked regarding:
- the demerit point reduction program
- the driver training system
- the road testing program
- medical examination reports
- vehicle registration on the death of the owner
- out of country drivers’ licences
- driver licensing for temporary foreign workers
Albertans can share their views in an online survey before January 2, 2015.
Since the first Traffic Safety Plan was launched in the province in 2007, the number of fatalities on our roads has decreased 22 per cent, even though the provincial population has grown. This critical work continues under Alberta’s Traffic Safety Plan 2015.
