The OHS Code documents the specific rules and requirements governing health and safety practices in the workplace.

As part of a regular review of Alberta’s OHS Code, Albertans can share their views by completing an online survey.

“This review is part of the regular business of making sure our health and safety rules keep pace with best practices. Albertans drive our economy – we want to hear from them. Your feedback will help keep people safe.”

Honourable Ric McIver, Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour

The proposed changes will update the OHS Code. Feedback is also being sought on a variety of areas, including issues such as:

  • Bullying and harassment in the workplace
  • Health and safety management systems in the oil and gas sector
  • Workplace air quality
  • Underground mines

Significant parts of the OHS Code are updated approximately every five years, to ensure the rules governing workplace health and safety keep pace with changes in industry and technology. In addition to the online survey, ongoing consultations have been held with various stakeholders since 2011.

The survey will be open until January 31, 2015.
