This release was issued under a previous government.

As a former teacher and member of the Task Force for Teaching Excellence, Associate Minister Bhardwaj will spend June 25 and 26 exploring how countries around the world are fostering more effective teaching and learning practices through teacher preparation, support, evaluation and feedback.

“These discussions come at an important time for Alberta as we examine ways to better support teachers, ensure excellence in every classroom, and bring the vision of Inspiring Education to life.  One way to achieve these goals is to learn how other jurisdictions are putting the best interests of students first.”

Naresh Bhardwaj, Associate Minister of Services for Persons with Disabilities

This seminar is hosted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.  The event will include the release of the OECD’s Teaching and Learning International Survey 2013 results – examining teacher preparation and evaluation, and the classroom environment.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
