This release was issued under a previous government.

Horne will be attending and speaking at the Health Technology Assessment International (HTAi) conference. The conference will bring together leaders from around the world to advance health technology assessment.

Minister Horne will also be meeting with the Bipartisan Policy Centre – Council on Health and Innovation and the National Institutes of Health, as well as the Office of the Orphan Products Development – Food and Drug Administration.

“Taking part in this important conference will allow me to bring the best ideas in health technology assessment home to Alberta and promote what we’re doing in Alberta. Advancing innovation through technology is part of our efforts to create sustainable health care solutions for future generations.”

Fred Horne, Minister of Health

The process of health technology assessment involves evaluating health technology evidence such as safety, effectiveness, cost implications, as well as ethical, legal and social considerations. Health policy recommendations are then made based on the assessment.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
