Premier Dave Hancock and International and Intergovernmental Relations Minister Cal Dallas will lay the groundwork for new partnerships with key international delegates over the course of the three-day event. Ministers Doug Horner and Diana McQueen along with other elected officials will also be at the conference.

“Alberta exported $103.7 billion in goods last year, so our success depends on our ability to get our products to international markets. This high-profile event takes place in our own backyard and is a unique opportunity to do the work of opening new markets right here at home. We’re doing what it takes to create more economic opportunities, investment, jobs and revenue to support the programs and services Albertans rely on.”

Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations

“The Global Petroleum Show is an outstanding opportunity to attract oil and gas VIP’s and business delegates from around the world, and we at the Canada-Arab Business Council are very pleased to be working with the Government of Alberta on incoming delegations from the Arab countries. The Alberta government’s involvement in this event is critical in showcasing Alberta and our industry to the world.”

Sandra Leblanc, President, Canada-Arab Business Council

Alberta’s presence at GPS will also include the Alberta Pavilion – a hub of activity that will draw key delegates and potential partners looking to learn more about Alberta’s innovation and leadership in responsible energy development through targeted industry presentations, meetings and exhibition space.

“GPS provides an important opportunity for the province to build relationships between industry and innovators from Alberta and around the world. For the CCEMC, this is a valuable forum to talk directly with technology developers and encourage funding submissions for projects that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Alberta and spur investment in transformative technology."

Eric Newell, Chair, Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation

GPS is one of the world’s largest energy conferences and exhibitions and this is the first year the event is being held annually instead of bi-annually. More than 60,000 attendees, including delegates from over 100 countries and 2,000 exhibitors are expected this year. An estimated $8.9 billion in business transactions are associated with the event, including $4.2 billion worth involving international companies.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
