This release was issued under a previous government.

Roughly 650 workers and 470 pieces of equipment will be out this construction season working on the twinning of Highway 63 between Grassland and Fort McMurray.

By fall 2015, 70 per cent of the 240 kilometre corridor will be complete and open to traffic, weather permitting.

Motorists are advised that speed reductions and temporary haul crossings will be in place along Highway 63 throughout summer.

Drivers should give themselves extra travel time as approximately 175 kilometres of Highway 63 between Grassland and Fort McMurray is currently under construction.

The Highway 63 twinning project remains on track and on time with the Government of Alberta’s commitment to twin Highway 63 between Grassland and Fort McMurray by fall 2016.
