This release was issued under a previous government.

“Europe is a major investment centre. It’s important we go there to build relationships and tell Alberta’s story—that we are a safe and attractive place to invest, with a strong economy and a balance sheet that is the envy of governments around the world.”

Doug Horner, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance

Minister Horner will meet with financial officials and investors in Germany, the Netherlands, England and Switzerland.

Horner’s trip builds on the success of a recent mission to Asia to build new markets for Alberta’s products and services, and to attract investment in Alberta’s economy and in Alberta bonds.

“Telling investors about our strong economy and AAA credit rating ensures we get the best possible interest rates on our bonds.”

Doug Horner, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance

Horner will also meet with Bank of England governor Mark Carney and attend two conferences on May 22 and 27.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
