“I want to thank Brian Mason for his many years of service to Albertans in the Alberta Legislature as leader of the Alberta NDP. Brian has always been a dedicated and passionate member of the Assembly, a skilled debater and a tenacious parliamentarian who was utterly unafraid to stand up for what he believed in and hold the government accountable. His quick wit and sense of humour often brought much-needed levity to our exchanges in Question Period, and he certainly knew how to keep us on our toes.

“I’d like to thank Brian’s wife, Karin, and his sons, Peter and Alex, for sharing Brian with Albertans for all these years. Politics can be hard on families, and I’m glad that Brian will soon be able to spend more time with his family and loved ones.

“Brian noted in his remarks today that he is happy that he has friends on all sides of the Assembly. I am proud to call Brian a friend and have enjoyed having him as a political sparring partner since our days in university.

"I know that in the government caucus, Brian Mason is held in high respect. He certainly has mine. Thank you for your service, Brian. And all the best.”
