This release was issued under a previous government.

Following last summer’s flooding, Highway 1A at Jura Creek was completely washed out. To prevent future flood damage, crews will remove the corrugated steel culvert at Jura Creek and replace it with a concrete box structure.

The twin concrete box culvert, six metres wide and three metres tall, will better accommodate the creek’s water and gravel flow, as well as the removal of accumulated debris.

The Alberta Government is investing $110 million over the next two years for flood mitigation on roads and bridges throughout the province, as well as $50 million to continue flood repairs at sites damaged last June.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, the government is investing in families and communities, living within our means and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
