This release was issued under a previous government.

Premier Redford will meet with key government and industry leaders in India to promote Alberta as an attractive investment destination and explore areas of deeper cooperation, particularly in energy and agriculture. She will also open the Alberta India trade office.

“Alberta’s success is driven by our global exports and India is the world’s third largest economy in terms of purchasing power. Opening new markets is job one for our government and a key part of the Building Alberta Plan. We will continue to aggressively sell Alberta to the world and this mission is a valuable opportunity to do just that.”

- Alison Redford, Premier

Human Services Minister Manmeet Bhullar, Human Services Associate Minister Naresh Bhardwaj, and more than 20 Alberta-based companies participating in the 2014 PETROTECH Exhibition and Conference will be part of the mission.

Premier Redford will also participate in a panel discussion and bilateral meetings at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where she will share Alberta’s perspective on a wide variety of important global issues.

The estimated cost for this mission, including travel, accommodation and meals is $120,200. The final mission cost will reflect ongoing work to finalize details of meetings and opportunities in India and will be publicly disclosed in the mission report.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
