This release was issued under a previous government.

“Premier Redford and our government are committed to investing in families and communities as part of our Building Alberta Plan. That includes high quality, secure and affordable registry services for vibrant communities like Wabasca.”

- Manmeet S. Bhullar, Minister of Service Alberta

“I am delighted that we have been successful in making the case for a new registry agent location in Wabasca. This is a busy community in the heart of Northern Alberta oil country and residents here will benefit from better access to registry services.”

- Pearl Calahasen, MLA Lesser Slave Lake

The government will seek bids to own and operate the registry agent office through a competitive Request for Proposal opportunity posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection on November 15. The province will assess proposals based on factors such as financial and business capability and will be looking for proposals that offer innovative options for service delivery. The successful applicant must also clear a comprehensive security clearance.

Alberta’s privately-owned and operated network of registry agents provide registry-related services including motor vehicle registration, driver’s testing a licensing, land title searches, corporate registration and searches, and vital statistics services. Working closely with Service Alberta, agents complete more than 8-million transactions annually at 226 locations throughout Alberta.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
