This release was issued under a previous government.

“We must continue to ensure all Alberta schools, including private schools, are providing high-quality education to students. While ongoing concerns make this inquiry into the governance and finances of the school necessary, I want to stress that classes continue and students’ day-to-day routines will not be affected. Through our inquiry, we will confirm that this school is meeting its goals and, most importantly, meeting the needs of its students.”

- Jeff Johnson, Minister of Education

The inquiry, which is being led by KPMG, will begin immediately and take approximately six to eight weeks to complete. Following the inquiry, a report will be provided to the Minister of Education.

The inquiry was ordered under section 41 of the School Act which allows the Minister of Education to appoint a person to conduct an inquiry into the administrative and financial condition of a board, private school, or early childhood services program.

The International School of Excellence began operations in the 2003-04 school year and has 170 registered students from kindergarten to grade 12.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
