Edmonton Police Service members responded to a 911 call concerning a male who was in possession of a knife outside the Kingsway Garden Mall. During the confrontation, Christopher Simon, age 31, was shot and injured by a member of the Edmonton Police Service.
ASIRT conducted a thorough, independent, and objective investigation into the actions of the Edmonton Police Service. The Director has determined that no criminal charges will flow as a result of the conduct of the Edmonton Police Service on that date.
Christopher Simon is currently facing a number of charges stemming from his involvement in this incident. As such, ASIRT cannot release any further information at this time.
