The goal is to increase road safety by decreasing the number of commercial vehicle collisions caused by faulty braking systems.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers will talk with drivers and technicians about the importance of commercial vehicle brake safety and deal with any other safety issues.

Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers will be at the following locations from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • September 9:   Balzac Vehicle Inspection Station:

Highway 2, northbound, five kilometres north of Calgary

  • September 10: Grimshaw Vehicle Inspection Station:

Highway 35, southbound, 11 kilometres north of Grimshaw

Hanna:

Junction of Highways 9 and 36, eight kilometres east of Hanna on Highway 9

Hinton:

Highway 16, 15 kilometres west of Hinton

  • September 11: Hoselaw Vehicle Inspection Station:

Highway 28, 16 kilometres west of Bonnyville

  • September 12: Coutts Vehicle Inspection Station:

Highway 4, north and south bound at Coutts

Demmitt Vehicle Inspection Station:

Highway 43, east and westbound at Demmitt

  • September 13: Grande Prairie Mobile Inspection Station:

Highway 43, westbound, two kilometres north of Grande Prairie

Brake Safety Awareness Week is part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Operation Air Brake Campaign. The CVSA certifies commercial vehicle inspectors across North America and the Operation Air Brake campaign is part of an ongoing effort to improve inspection, compliance, maintenance and performance of commercial vehicle brakes throughout the continent.
