Committed to building Alberta by investing in new and modernized schools across the province, Premier Alison Redford and Infrastructure Minister Wayne Drysdale saw first-hand the major enhancements to technology, classrooms and career programming at the St. Paul junior high school.
“École Racette is an excellent example of our Building Alberta Plan in action – we are improving our existing schools and incorporating technology and programming to meet the needs of today’s learners. We are excited for students and staff to be returning to a safe, healthy and modern school that will also serve as a hub for the community. I am honoured to celebrate this milestone with them.”
The École Racette modernization concludes government’s $51 million investment in the St. Paul Solution, which resulted in three major community school upgrades and two new schools.
Government will invest nearly $1.4 billion over the next three years in school capital projects. This includes funding to complete school modernization projects announced in 2011, as well as more than $500 million toward 50 new schools and another 70 modernization projects for existing facilities.
In the coming months, students in several other Alberta communities will see modernization projects underway and being completed at their schools. Details on new projects will be announced this fall.
