Alberta is a world leader in education, and over the past few years there have been many innovations to Alberta’s education system that support Inspiring Education, Alberta’s vision for 21st century learning.

“Albertans know how important education is for our province’s future prosperity. That’s why we continue to build our education system and make improvements to ensure our kids are prepared for their future world. With exciting new initiatives like student learning assessments, high school flexibility and our small class-size initiative, we can ensure our kids have the best possible chance for success.”

- Jeff Johnson, Minister of Education

The Redford government invests nearly $35 million each school day to help Alberta students reach their full potential. In addition, as part of the Building Alberta plan, government will invest nearly $1.4 billion over the next three years in school capital projects. This includes funding to complete school modernization projects announced in 2011, as well as more than $500 million toward 50 new schools and another 70 modernization projects for existing facilities. These investments ensure Alberta’s children get the best education they deserve.

For these communities, please be assured that we will continue to support you. Thank you for your tireless work to ensure students in these areas will have a safe and secure place to attend school this year. This is nothing short of remarkable and a testament to the resiliency of Albertans.”

Our government was elected to keep building Alberta, to live within its means and to fight to open new markets for Alberta’s resources. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
