Grizzly Oil Sands ULC pleaded guilty to one count of contravening the terms or conditions of its temporary diversion licence after a contracted employee provided false water-use information for several oil sands exploration projects near Fort McMurray.

As part of the sentencing, $90,688 will support the Wetland Boreal Plant Revegetation Project. This creative sentencing project will benefit the environment and the public by propagating and reintroducing traditional plants of cultural importance to First Nations in an appropriate wetland area. The remaining $9,312 will be paid as a fine.
