This release was issued under a previous government.

From 10 p.m. on March 15 to 6 a.m. the following morning Deerfoot Trail SE traffic north and southbound will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Highway 22X and Cranston Avenue/Seton Boulevard SE. The inside lanes in both directions will be closed and speed will be reduced to increase the safety of travellers and workers.

From 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. March 18 to the following morning and March 19 to the following morning motorists travelling north on Deerfoot Trail between Highway 22X and Cranston Avenue/Seton Boulevard SE will be shifted to one of the southbound lanes. Two-way traffic will occur on the southbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail.

All on and off ramps will remain open. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h in the construction zone during work hours and travellers may experience intermittent 10-minute delays as trucks turn around.

This work is in addition to overnight bridge construction from March 18 to March 23 which will impact Highway 22X between Chaparral Boulevard SE/Sun Valley Boulevard and McKenzie Lake Boulevard/Cranston Boulevard SE.

Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag people. Please note dates are subject to change due to weather and other conditions.

The Alberta government signed a 33-year agreement with Chinook Roads Partnership to design, build, operate and partially finance this leg of the Stoney Trail ring road from its junction with 17 Avenue SE, south along the City of Calgary’s eastern limit, then west along Highway 22X to east of the Macleod Trail interchange. This portion of the ring road will be open to traffic by the fall of 2013.
