This release was issued under a previous government.

Motorists travelling northbound on Deerfoot Trail SE will have access to one lane south of Seton Boulevard SE. Additionally, on Saturday, February 9 from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. arrow-board trucks will drive in front of motorists and slow traffic to 5-10km/h beginning at Deerfoot Trail SE and Macleod Trail. The rolling slow-down is being implemented to provide workers with a safe window to install the new signage.

Message boards along northbound Deerfoot Trail SE will alert motorists of the upcoming construction and offer alternative routes to help mitigate delays.

The signs are being installed in preparation for the full opening of the intersection and ramps later this year. Motorists will also see a new Stoney Trail (Highway 201) sign which will replace the old Hwy 22X signs.

The work is taking place at night to reduce impact on the travelling public and ensure the safety of workers. Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all message boards and flag people. Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.

Please note the date is subject to change.

The Alberta government signed a 33-year agreement with Chinook Roads Partnership to design, build, operate and partially finance the southeast leg of the Stoney Trail ring road from its junction with 17 Avenue SE, south along the City of Calgary’s eastern limit, then west along Highway 22X to east of the Macleod Trail interchange. The new portion of the ring road will be open to traffic by the fall of 2013.
