This release was issued under a previous government.

Eastbound Highway 22X to southbound Deerfoot Trail traffic will be shifted off of the temporary roadway and moved on the permanent ramp effective the evening of Sept. 17. This shift accommodates the continued construction of the new Deerfoot Trail/Southeast Stoney Trail interchange.

Implementation of the detour will occur between 10 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 6 a.m. on Sept. 18. Minor delays to traffic may occur while crews shift motorists onto the permanent ramp. Please note dates are subject to change due to weather and other conditions.

Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag people. Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.

The Alberta government signed a 33-year agreement with Chinook Roads Partnership to design, build, operate and partially finance the southeast leg of the Stoney Trail ring road from its junction with 17th Avenue SE, south along the City of Calgary’s eastern limit, then west along Highway 22X to east of the Macleod Trail interchange. The new road will be fully open to traffic by the fall of 2013.
