This release was issued under a previous government.

Northbound Deerfoot Trail in this area will be reduced to a single lane between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Aug. 16 to 18. Intermittent temporary stoppages of the single lane are also required to allow equipment and workers to move safely while removing the signage. These stoppages will briefly restrict traffic from travelling on northbound Deerfoot Trail. Southbound Deerfoot Trail will not be affected. The work is being done in off-peak hours to provide a safe work environment for the sign crews and to minimize impacts to motorists. Please note dates are subject to change.

Additional overhead sign work will also occur on other parts of Deerfoot Trail throughout summer 2012 as part of road improvements. Specific location and date information will be publicized once confirmed.

Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag people. Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.

The Alberta government signed a 33-year agreement with Chinook Roads Partnership to design, build, operate and partially finance the southeast leg of the Stoney Trail ring road from its junction with 17th Avenue SE, south along the City of Calgary’s eastern limit, then west along Highway 22X to east of the Macleod Trail interchange. The new road will be fully open to traffic by the fall of 2013.
