This release was issued under a previous government.
Eastbound 16th Avenue N traffic will be detoured onto southbound Deerfoot Trail to Memorial Drive. Motorists may then use the Memorial Drive interchange to turn back north onto Deerfoot Trail and then exit eastbound 16th Ave N or they may wish to continue eastbound on Memorial Drive to access other Calgary roads.
The total closure will eliminate vibrations on the bridge during the pour, which produces less “bouncing” by the concrete surfacing machines and will ensure a smoother driving surface following the pour. The pour is being done in off-peak hours to minimize inconvenience to motorists.
The work does not affect westbound 16th Avenue N.

GTS Constructors Inc. is doing the $1.8-million repair and overlay to the 40-year-old bridge deck and the project is expected to be complete by Sept. 15, weather permitting.
