This release was issued under a previous government.

Motorists are advised that the traffic signals at the Nose Hill Drive-Stoney Trail intersection will be removed by Aug. 10, which allows motorists to travel Stoney Trail from its junction with Highway 1 on the west side of Calgary to the junction with same highway on the east side of Calgary without stopping.

Nose Hill Drive will be closed across the Stoney Trail corridor. Direct access from westbound Nose Hill Drive to northbound Stoney Trail and eastbound Nose Hill Drive to southbound Stoney Trail will be maintained. Through traffic on Nose Hill Drive will be detoured around Stoney Trail via Bearspaw Dam Road.

Access from northbound Stoney Trail to westbound Nose Hill Drive and Tuscany Hill NW will be via the detour along eastbound Nose Hill Drive, southbound 87th Street NW and Bearspaw Dam Road. Access from southbound Stoney Trail to eastbound Nose Hill Drive will be via the detour along westbound Nose Hill Drive, Bearspaw Dam Road and northbound 87th Street NW.

Access to southbound Stoney Trail from westbound Nose Hill Drive will be via southbound 87th Street NW, Bearspaw Dam Road and eastbound Nose Hill Drive. Access to northbound Stoney Trail from eastbound Nose Hill Drive will be via the detour along Bearspaw Dam Road, northbound 87th Street NW and westbound Nose Hill Drive.

The detour will be in effect until November 2013 when traffic will be switched onto the new interchange bridges carrying Nose Hill Drive over Stoney Trail. Please note dates are subject to change.

Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag people. Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.
