This release was issued under a previous government.

Deerfoot Trail will be reduced to one lane in each direction around the worksite. Southbound Deerfoot Trail traffic will be detoured onto the Highway 22X interchange ramps and then back down to southbound Deerfoot Trail. Northbound Deerfoot Trail traffic will also be reduced to one lane south of Highway 22X through the worksite.

Eastbound and westbound Highway 22X will also be restricted to one lane in each direction to accommodate the Deerfoot Trail detour.

The closures and detours are scheduled nightly from 10 p.m.-6 a.m. July 30-Aug. 4. Please note dates are subject to change.

Additional temporary and permanent traffic detours are anticipated in the Deerfoot Trail area through summer and fall 2012. More information will be provided once confirmed.

Motorists should use caution in this area and obey all signs, message boards, and flag people. Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.

The Alberta government signed a 33-year agreement with Chinook Roads Partnership to design, build, operate and partially finance the southeast leg of the Stoney Trail ring road from its junction with 17th Avenue SE, south along the City of Calgary’s eastern limit, then west along Highway 22X to east of the Macleod Trail interchange. The new road will be fully open to traffic by the fall of 2013.
