This release was issued under a previous government.
Starting May 20, the new roundabout at the junction of the two highways will undergo final paving and related work. Traffic will be reduced, alternately, to one-way-only through the construction zone for about one week. Motorists are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes as delays will be significant.
Motorists are also advised that work will be done to four other intersections along Highway 8 between Highway 22 and the west Calgary city limit. These intersections are at Range Road 41, Range Road 35, 117 Street SW (Range Road 25) at Elbow Valley Access, and 101 Street SW (Calgary city limit). Personnel and equipment will be working at any or all of these intersections throughout the construction period and speed limit reductions may be in place.
The roundabout and intersection work will be completed by June 15, weather permitting.
Motorists should use caution in the area and obey all signs, message boards and flag people. Motorists are reminded that fines for speeding are doubled through construction zones when workers are present.
