Purpose: Inspiring Education: A Dialogue with Albertans is an opportunity to shape the future of education in Alberta and we want to hear your perspective. Tell us your story. Share your opinions. Join the conversation!

How to participate:

Join the online conversation

An online discussion forum is under development and will be launched on this website in April. Please check back from time to time and take advantage of this opportunity to discuss the future of education in Alberta with your fellow citizens.

Attend a public meeting

A series of full-day public meetings will be held across Alberta between April and the end of June 2009. You may express your interest in attending one of these meetings by completing the following registration process. Please be aware that if large numbers of people express an interest in participating in these meetings, we may need to limit numbers. We want to include balanced numbers of participants in three broad categories:

  • private citizens who express an active interest
  • private citizens who are invited to participate through a random selection process
  • individuals who work with or on behalf of children and youth (including people who work in the school system as well as those who work in a variety of capacities to support children, such as health, social services, immigrant services and justice).

Host or attend a meeting in your community

A Community Conversation Kit is being developed for people who wish to host an Inspiring Education event in their own community. This will be available mid-April. Send us a note at inspiring.education@gov.ab.ca to be notified when it is ready. You will then be able to download the Kit and lead your own discussion, in your school, school council, business, organization or neighbourhood. Community Conversation Kits will also be available by calling 780-427-7219. (For toll-free access within Alberta, first dial 310-0000.)

Join the Provincial Conversation

The results of all the public and online conversations will be discussed at a large public event to be held in Edmonton October 18-20, 2009.
