Purpose: Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation invites your input into the development of the Grande Prairie Region Parks Management Plan for 10 parks in the Grande Prairie area.

The management plan will outline the future management direction for these parks which will support recreational activities while ensuring continued protection. The 10 parks are:

Saskatoon Island Provincial Park;
Young's Point Provincial Park;
Williamson Provincial Park;
O'Brien Provincial Park;
Saskatoon Mountain Natural Area;
Kleskun Hill Natural Area;
Musreau Lake Provincial Recreation Area;
Simonette River Provincial Recreation Area;
Big Mountain Creek Provincial Recreation Area; and
Demmitt Provincial Recreation Area
Pre-planning started with an open house in Grande Prairie in November 2007 to discuss preliminary strategies for the management of these parks and to collect public feedback. We are now initiating the management planning process and continuing to collect public feedback for development of this plan. You are invited to participate.

Five open houses have been scheduled for the public to provide information and receive comments.

Those unable to attend the open houses can view the presentation Grande Prairie Region Parks Management Plan - Preliminary Strategies and provide feedback online, by email or mail.

Input received by May 10, 2009 will help determine the future management direction of these parks.
