Finalists named for provincial child care awards
Edmonton... The 2009 Child Care Professional Awards of Excellence recognize 50 Albertans for innovation and creativity in the delivery of quality child care in communities across the province.
Nine award recipients will be selected from the 50 finalists to be recognized at a ceremony on May 22 in Edmonton.
“These awards are a celebration of Alberta’s many outstanding child care professionals who deliver high-quality programming through our licensed and approved child care programs each day,” said Janis Tarchuk, Minister of Children and Youth Services. “The awards give Albertans a way to formally say thank you to their children’s caregivers for their dedication and commitment and applaud them for a job well done.”
The provincial child care awards play an important role in acknowledging the valuable contributions child care professionals make to children’s learning and development.
Finalists were chosen by a selection committee made up of past award recipients, child and family services authority staff and representatives from other organizations dedicated to quality child care.
Alberta Children and Youth Services received 145 nominations submitted by parents, child care owners and operators, and other Albertans who appreciate the value of quality child care for children and families.
The Alberta Child Care Professional Awards of Excellence are presented by the Alberta government with support from ACCESS Television; CTV; Kedros Furniture - A Division of the Excel Society; Wintergreen Learning Materials; and CORUS Entertainment (92.5 Joe FM, 630 CHED, CISN Country 103.9 FM, AM 770 CHQR, Country 105 FM and Q107 Classic Rock).
