Lieutenant Governor Kwong Recovering in Hospital
Edmonton... The Honourable Norman Kwong, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta underwent surgery on Wednesday, April 1 to have a small cancerous growth removed. The procedure was successful and the Lieutenant Governor is resting comfortably in hospital in Calgary.
While he recovers from the surgery, the Lieutenant Governor will be taking a break from his ceremonial and social duties but will continue to perform his constitutional duties, such as signing Orders-in-Council and granting Royal Assent to legislation.
The Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Kwong offer heartfelt thanks to the outstanding team of doctors and nurses responsible for his care and are looking forward to resuming a full schedule of events as soon as possible. Their Honours will not be granting media requests for interviews at this time.
