Alberta technology shines at GTEC 2008 conference in Ottawa
Alberta government initiatives receive Distinction Awards
Edmonton... Alberta is the showcase province at GTEC 2008 in Ottawa, where four Alberta government information and communications technology (ICT) initiatives are Distinction Award recipients. GTEC is Canada’s annual, international conference for government leaders on the use of ICT to serve citizens better. The conference theme is "Government 2.0,” which addresses the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies, citizen-centered service delivery, and government service transformation.
Doug Horner, Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, who delivered a keynote address at the conference said, “Congratulations to the Alberta government initiatives selected as finalists and the Distinction Award recipients from Alberta, and across Canada. These are great examples of how government employees are applying creativity and technology to enhance services for citizens.”
The Distinction Award program recognizes leadership, innovation and excellence in enabling and managing service delivery within the public sector.
