Medical Examiner seeks public's help to identify man
Edmonton... Alberta's Chief Medical Examiner has released a photograph of an unidentified male whose body was found on March 18.
"We hope that by releasing this information, someone will recognize this individual and be able to provide information on who he is," said Dr. Graeme Dowling, Alberta's Chief Medical Examiner.
The body of the adult male was found in a ravine south of the Snow Valley Ski Club at 119 Street and Whitemud Drive in Edmonton. He was wearing a dark visored hat, a green jacket, a black sweatshirt, dark green corduroy pants, and black shoes. The man is estimated to be in his 50s or 60s, is five foot ten in height, and weighs 165 pounds. He is balding with grey-brown to grey hair and a trim goatee. He has no tattoos or distinctive scars.
No person matching his description has been reported missing to the Edmonton Police Service Missing Persons Unit. His death is not considered suspicious.
"This is a challenging case as we have been unable to identify this gentleman through regular means. That's why we are asking the media to help get this information to Albertans," said Ron Stevens, Minister of Justice and Attorney General. "Without the media, it would be far more difficult for us to get this information out to the public."
Anyone with information that might assist with the identification of the gentleman is encouraged to call the Medical Examiner's Office in Edmonton at (780) 427 4987.
