Government Committees

A number of committees exist to help government do its job effectively.

The Agenda and Priorities Committee helps develop the strategic agenda for the government.

Treasury Board creates general management policies for the provincial government and its agencies.

Cabinet Policy Committees
The Cabinet Policy Committees are integral parts of the government decision making process. Their roles and responsibilities include the following:

  • review and make recommendations on policies, programs and legislation,
  • monitor existing programs, services and legislation, and
  • review the budgetary implications of each proposal as well as implementation and communications strategies.

 

There are five Cabinet Policy Committees focusing on different strategic areas:

  • Energy
  • Public Health and Safety
  • Finance
  • Community Development
  • Education
