Dialing Information — Government

When calling another Alberta government office in the same city, employees on centrex can still dial the last four or five digits of the telephone number, as follows:
  • Edmonton – dial the last five digits for numbers beginning with 427, 422, 408, 415, 638, 643 and 644.
  • Calgary – dial the last five digits for numbers beginning with 297, 355, 476, 592, 662 and 695.
  • Other locations in Alberta – dial the last four digits.

Free cell phone access

You can use your cellular phone to reach any Alberta government office free of charge. Enter *310 (Rogers-AT&T) or #310 (Telus and Bell). This allows you to access the province-wide toll-free service without paying long distance or airtime charges.

Assistance reaching the deaf

Alberta government staff needing to reach a deaf person with a TTY should dial 780 422-1820.

The Call Centre Help Desk in Edmonton is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 780-427-3169. The Calgary Call Centre Help Desk is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 403-297-7166.
