Extensive damage from the 2013 flood has rendered Harvie Passage unsafe for public use. The area will remain closed to boaters and recreationists until repairs to the passage have been completed.

In the coming days, as weather permits, the Alberta government, with support from the Calgary Fire Department, will install a seasonal safety barrier upstream from Harvie Passage. The booms, orange buoys connected by chains, will span the width of the passage.
