Back to School Toolkit

“This toolkit is part of our commitment to share resources that help students and their families, as well as teachers, make a positive, safe, and healthy transition into a new school year.”

Jeff Johnson, Minister of Education

Students will find helpful links to homework resources from Learn Alberta, as well as access to ALIS—an online resource helping students prepare for their future career plans.

For parents, one easy-to-use item in the toolkit is My Child’s Learning: A Parent Resource. It provides detailed information about curriculum and the topics covered by each subject area and grade level. Parents will also find tips for helping with homework, supporting healthy lifestyles, resources for school safety, and information on out-of-school care.

Teachers and school administrators can access updates on various education initiatives and upcoming workshops. This year’s toolkit also contains information for students, parents, teachers, and administrators on how they can contribute to—and build—inclusive, bully-free settings.

Part of the Alberta Government’s plan to build Alberta is its vision for education, as outlined by Inspiring Education. This vision promotes the development of engaged thinkers who are ethical citizens with an entrepreneurial spirit.
