“Because of the tireless efforts of corporate and community sponsors and the Town of Vermilion, this spray park is a reality. Everyone involved in this project has gone above and beyond expectations to demonstrate what shared work and dedication can achieve.”

Richard Starke, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation

Community and corporate sponsors raised more than $110,000. The Alberta government provided $150,000, while the Town of Vermilion provided the remaining funds towards the $400,000 cost.

“Our goal is always to provide first-class recreation opportunities and a spray park adds to Vermilion’s recreational opportunities.  I think it is an ideal location for children to play and an added attraction to our Vermilion Provincial Park.  My grandchildren will use it when they are here for our Vermilion Agricultural Fair this summer. The park is truly amazing.  Thank you to all the service clubs and people who donated to this project.”

Bruce MacDuff, Mayor of the Town of Vermilion

After more than two years of planning, consultation and construction, the spray park, located in Vermilion Provincial Park, has been operating since May.

The provincial park is located north of Vermilion, just under two hours east of Edmonton.

Over the past 10 years, the Alberta government has invested more than $300 million in parks infrastructure and improvements.

Alberta’s provincial parks attract about 8.5 million visits each year. The extensive system of almost 500 provincial parks and protected areas ranges from highly conservation-focused to recreation-friendly.
