William A Switzer - Parks Day in Switzer 2

Celebrations and activities highlight the many ways Albertans can enjoy Alberta’s provincial parks, the services provided and the role of parks in protecting ecosystems, habitat and species-at-risk.

More than 20 provincial parks across Alberta will offer special Parks Day festivities. Enter a sandcastle building contest, sit around a campfire, go on a scavenger hunt, try a new activity or just kick back and relax.

Bow Valley Provincial Park is holding its events on July 20.

“From the hot, dry badlands, to vast boreal forests, to alpine tundra, Alberta Parks hold some of the most diverse, unique and beautiful landscapes in the world. This year, come out and support our beloved parks by joining hundreds of like-minded Albertans in celebrating Parks Day.”

Dr. Richard Starke, Minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation

First celebrated in 1990, Canada’s Parks Day is an annual event when thousands of Canadians participate in fun, educational, family-oriented activities in parks and historic sites across the country.
