Cool Little Towns is a partnership between High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Okotoks, Nanton and the MD of Foothills to encourage people to visit the region.

Representatives from Cool Little Towns gathered in Black Diamond on June 10 to celebrate tourism growth in the region.
“The revitalization of cool little towns gives all of our communities the opportunity to showcase the best places in southern Alberta to visit and to explore. From the rolling foothills to the majestic Rocky Mountains, the communities that are involved in Cool Little towns offer day trippers an experience of a lifetime.”
The tourism grant will be used by the communities to enhance the Cool Little Towns website, identify potential themed driving tours and determine events that could be developed or enhanced to attract more visitors to the area. It supports efforts by government and industry to grow tourism in Alberta to a $10.3 billion industry by 2020 as outlined in Alberta’s Tourism Framework.

Tourism flood recovery support:
- A total of $550,000 over three years (2013-16) has been allocated to help keep tourism strong in southern Alberta following the June 2013 flooding.
- Visitor Information Centres were given additional resources during and immediately after the flood to assist visitors who were stranded or unable to reach their destinations.
- Canmore Business and Tourism received $75,000 in 2013 to assist with activating events in the Kananaskis region.
