Parsons Creek interchange

The Parsons Creek interchange is the final segment of Highway 63 to open in 2015. Government invested $300 million in the Parsons Creek interchange and another $40 million in the East Parsons interchange in Fort McMurray. The interchanges allow access to much-needed land for residential, commercial and institutional developments in the region.

These developments will have the capacity to house a significant number of residents and will include businesses and other important amenities for this region, which plays a key role in Alberta’s economy.

“Parsons Creek interchange is now enabling the efficient movement of people and goods in Northern Alberta. We are pleased that residents of Fort McMurray will have safer and more direct access to their homes, and local businesses and industry will have more opportunities for economic development.”

Brian Mason, Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation

In addition to the interchanges, the government opened 185 kilometres of twinning on Highway 63 this year, which means that 99 per cent of the highway between Grassland and Fort McMurray is twinned and open to traffic.
