National Child Abuse Prevention Month offers a reminder to all Albertans to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect, and to report any incident in which they believe a child or youth may need help.
“All Albertans have a responsibility to protect our children. Make the call that will enable a family to get the help and support it needs.”
Learn the Signs
There are many signs of child abuse or neglect. A child who is abused may:
- appear to be continually hungry, dirty or unsuitably dressed for the weather;
- be withdrawn or aggressive; or
- have unexplained bruises or injuries.

Make the Call
Anyone who has concerns about a child’s safety or well-being should contact his or her local Child and Family Services Office, Delegated First Nations Agency, or police.
